I bought this to charge my Garmin and phones on a multiday wilderness kayak trip. I'm not an electronic smart guy but I found this only charges while plugged into the device and in full sunlight. It requires the lithium expensive battery to store any charge. So on the kayak deck going in and out of shade it gave my phone fits. It didn't do much charge up it just kept it from losing charge as far as I could tell. Ended up disconnecting it so my phone didn't lose more power in the shade.
